A Magnificent Culinary Evening in Calella de Palafrugell for Hotel Alga and El Càntir's 4th Tribute Dinner
For the fourth consecutive year, El Càntir restaurant and Hotel Alga were the venues for the Tribute Dinner honoring a generation of chefs who have set trends in gastronomy. July 25th marked the date of this new gathering, where the host, El Càntir's chef Pere Malagelada, welcomed Empordà cuisine icon Jaume Font, Basque grill master Aitor Núñez, pastry chef Oriol Balaguer, and, as the special guest, Carles Abellan, one of the chefs who has most contributed to elevating the world of tapas and transforming them into haute cuisine.
A Tribute Menu
This year's Tribute Dinner menu featured: a welcome appetizer by chef Pere Malagelada; followed by a selection of tapas from Carles Abellan; then Jaume Font offered a surf and turf dish; and finally, master Aitor Núñez presented a Basque grilled dish.
The first Tribute Dinner was held in 2023 to highlight the career of Catalan-Alsatian chef Jean Louis Neichel. In 2024, the Tribute Dinner honored the Empordà brothers Josep and Jaume Font. Last year, the guest was chef Pere Arpa from Banyoles.

Hôtel très bien situé à 5-10mn à pied du bord de mer. L'hôtel est moderne, très bien décoré. La chambre est spacieuse, nous avions vue sur la mer. Il y a une grande piscine, parfaite pour ceux qui aiment faire des longueurs. Il y a un bassin avec des tortues d'eau.

Hotel Espectacular
Hem estat aquest finde, que dir d,aquest hotel, espectacular el tracte de tot el personal, la amabilat del servei cuina i bar amb Rafael al cap, recepcio, les instalacions en general, llastima que sols hem estat una nit, pero de ben segur que tornarem, gracies a tots per fer ho possible!!!

Hi hem estat una sola nit i n'hem sortit encantats. Ens han donat una habitació renovada, àmplia i amb terrassa. Ens han permès estar tot el dia següent per l'hotel, fent us de la iscina i la resta de serveis (fent el check out pel matí). Molt bon tracte per part de tot el personal.
Un petit oasi
Ens hem allotjat a l'Hotel Alga durant un cap de setmana i ha estat una experiència excel·lent. La ubicació és immillorable, molt a prop del mar i del centre de Calella, però amb una calma absoluta. Les habitacions són còmodes i molt netes, i el jardí amb la piscina és ideal per relaxar-se.
Calm and serene hotel for families and couples alike
Really lovely hotel. Short walk (5 mins) to the beach and restaurants. Great breakfast too. Every staff member was professional and helpful and I was sad to leave when the time came.
