Hotel Alga's 4th Tribute Dinner in July to Feature Chefs Carles Abellan and Oriol Balaguer

The event, which will take place on July 18th in Calella de Palafrugell, will be led by chef Pere Malagelada, and will also feature Jaume Font and grill master Aitor Núñez for a night dedicated to reinterpreted traditional cuisine.

Thirty years later, chef Carles Abellan and pastry chef Oriol Balaguer are cooking together again. And they will do so at what has become one of the essential events of the summer calendar: the Tribute Dinner at Hotel Alga in Calella de Palafrugell. This gastronomic reunion will take place on July 18th.

The fourth edition of Hotel Alga's Tribute Dinner will, in fact, bring together five names who have written a page in the history of our cuisine. Leading the event, once again, will be Pere Malagelada, chef of El Càntir restaurant at Hotel Alga 4*, accompanied by leading figure in Empordà cuisine Jaume Font, Basque grill master Aitor Núñez, pastry chef Oriol Balaguer and, as the special guest, Carles Abellán, one of the chefs who has most contributed to dignifying the world of tapas and transforming them into haute cuisine.

A Mediterranean Menu


The July 18th menu will begin with a welcome appetizer inspired by Ramats de Foc, prepared by the host chef, Pere Malagelada. Next, diners will enjoy a selection of Carles Abellan's most representative tapas. Afterward, Jaume Font will present a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic 'mar i muntanya' (sea and mountain dish), while grill master Aitor Núñez will offer a tasting of Basque grilled dishes.

With this fourth edition on July 18th, the Tribute Dinner consolidates an initiative that was born with the aim of championing Catalan cuisine, its great chefs, and the products that form part of our gastronomic identity.

The first edition was held in 2023 to highlight the career of the Catalan-Alsatian chef Jean Louis Neichel. In 2024, the Tribute Dinner paid homage to the Empordà brothers Josep and Jaume Font. Last year, the guest was Banyoles chef Pere Arpa.
